Hedge Funds
Hedge funds are a specialised part of the asset management industry. They pool capital from institutional and high-net-worth investors and use flexible strategies across traditional and alternative assets. For investors, they offer diversification, access to specialised expertise and reduced dependence on traditional equity and bond markets.
Globally, hedge funds manage approximately USD 5 trillion. The main investor groups are pension funds, family offices, insurance companies and other professional investors. Switzerland already has a diverse ecosystem of more than 50 firms managing or distributing hedge fund solutions. Swiss investors’ total exposure is estimated at more than CHF 50 billion.
With its strong investor base, qualified specialists, established service providers and stable framework, Switzerland has the potential to become a leading global hedge fund hub.
ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï has established a dedicated Hedge Funds Working Group to help realise this potential. Its objective is to secure optimal conditions in Switzerland for both hedge fund management and distribution. It will identify and advance growth opportunities while promoting industry-wide best practices that protect investors, reinforce the market’s reputation and help prevent unnecessary regulation.
