Regulation

A clear, stable and internationally competitive regulatory environment is essential to the long-term strength of Swiss asset management and the stability of the financial centre. Switzerland must ensure that its regulatory framework remains innovation-friendly, credible and internationally compatible, enabling the Swiss asset management industry to further strengthen its competitiveness.

The ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï (ÍøÆسԹÏ) engages with policymakers, supervisory authorities, the industry and its members to help shape and further develop the regulatory framework. Its aim is to position Switzerland as a leading asset management hub.

An important part of this engagement is self-regulation, which is recognised in certain areas. ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï develops and maintains practical standards and model documents for the implementation of FinSA, FinIA and CISA. Through its sustainable finance self-regulation, ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï also establishes binding industry standards for sustainability-related investment products, thereby strengthening transparency, quality and credibility.

One example of active involvement in shaping the regulatory framework is the Limited Qualified Investor Fund (L-QIF). ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï played a leading role in advocating for its introduction in Switzerland. Since 2024, the L-QIF has enabled qualified investors to launch collective investment schemes without prior authorisation or approval from FINMA, thereby enhancing the attractiveness and innovative capacity of Switzerland as a fund centre.

Further priorities include the development of private markets regulation, collective investment schemes legislation more broadly, and the use of new technologies such as tokenisation and artificial intelligence. The focus is on regulation that enables innovation, attracts international capital flows and safeguards access to international markets, particularly in Europe.

ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï is committed to identifying regulatory developments at an early stage and actively helping to shape them, promoting efficient and proportionate frameworks, and supporting its members in their implementation.
