Limited Qualified Investor Fund L-QIF
L-QIF – an innovation for the Swiss fund market
Since 1 March 2024, the Limited Qualified Investor Fund (L-QIF) has provided Switzerland with a new fund category available exclusively to qualified investors. It enables collective investment schemes under Swiss law to be launched flexibly, quickly and cost-efficiently.
The L-QIF does not require FINMA approval. However, its management and responsibility must be entrusted to a FINMA-supervised institution, such as a fund management company or a manager of collective assets. This indirect supervision ensures an appropriate level of investor protection. At the same time, the L-QIF offers considerable flexibility in terms of legal forms and eligible investments.
With the L-QIF, Switzerland’s fund and asset management industry has an instrument that facilitates the launch of innovative investment solutions and is particularly attractive for alternative investments and private markets. By the end of 2025, 33 L-QIFs had been registered in Switzerland.
ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï advocated for the introduction of the L-QIF. It continues to support its further development and assists its members in implementing the regulatory requirements.
